MarK9 is an all volunteer, non-profit organization which is tax exempt under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. While it is voluntary, search and rescue work is a serious activity. MarK9 team members are committed to constant preparation for response to a variety of emergency situations in support of law enforcement and emergency service agencies in our community. This preparation involves many hours of training and considerable personal expense for equipment and supplies. There are, however, many expenses that are beyond what individuals can reasonabley be expected to provide. Communications equipment and team vehicles for example cannot be supplied by team members who are already providing their own transportation, radios, and navigation equipment. Volunteers to assist with training our dogs is also a constant need.
